Please use this form to submit proposals for the SUNY VOICES Conference

SUNY at 70: Shared Governance - Past, Present and Future
Syracuse, NY
November 8-9, 2018

Conference themes, in addition to governance past, present and future, include:

  • Grooming and generating future leaders (students and faculty/staff)
  • Educating governance boards about shared governance
  • Discussing shared governance from a Presidential standpoint
  • Critical conversations regarding Academic Freedom and the First Amendment
  • Finding the balance in governance between new administration and not-new campus governance
  • Best practices for shared governance

We invite proposals (research as well as reflective analyses) that address issues related to shared
governance, and are especially interested in papers related to conference themes. More information
about the conference can be found here.

Proposals (descriptions of innovative or challenging shared governance practices on campuses or
research findings), using group or single-author projects, and works-in-progress, are welcome.

The following types of proposals will be considered:

  • Paper Proposals are submitted individually or in pairs. In paper sessions, authors present for 10-12 minutes, and are followed by an open discussion.
  • Panels provide an opportunity to examine specific problems or topics from a variety of
perspectives given that they include 3 - 4 participants.  They are usually interactive with the audience OR offer an Audience Q&A time at the conclusion.
  • Roundtables typically include a moderator and 4 - 6 presenters who make brief, informal
remarks about a specific idea or project. They allow for extensive discussion and audience paricipation.
  • Workshops offer an interactive session with a presenter/instructor.  These sessions allow the audience to actively participate in an activity that reinforces the presenter's message.

The deadline for submitting proposals is September 12, 2018
