ABOUT OUR TRAINING
This training examines key concepts related to the human response to loss and the facilitation of healthy bereavement. Topics include theoretical models of the grief experience, uncomplicated bereavement using the most current research and theoretical perspectives in the field, disenfranchised grief and anticipatory grief. The training will give participants specific strategies and counseling tools to help them work more effectively with their clients. The training will also include case scenarios and an actual grief counseling demonstration.
At the completion of the course, the participant will be able to:
*work more effectively with difficult grief situations
*understand the difference in normal and atypical grief reactions
*recognize the signs that indicate that grief is complicated
*utilize appropriate communication and counseling techniques
*utilize specific grief therapy resources to enable the clinician to work more effectively with clients.
This training for those individuals who are looking to further their knowledge of counseling theories, counseling skills and best practices to enhance their ability to work more effectively with their clients. In this training, participants will learn about the most recent therapeutic models of grief, goals and techniques for counseling the bereaved and dying, the characteristics of effective counselors and specific interventions that may be helpful in working with bereaved clients.
