The Department of Developmental Services,
the California Department of Education,
and the WestEd Center for Prevention and Early Intervention
are pleased to offer interactive, facilitated online learning
through Early Start Online.

EARLY START ONLINE courses provide facilitated learning opportunities for personnel development in early intervention. The courses are designed using various media, including narrated presentations, video clips of real intervention techniques and assignments that generate discussion opportunities. The Foundations Series courses provide content on critical Early Start requirements, procedures and practices. Skill Base Series courses provide content focusing on a specific developmental domain. This session, two Foundations Series courses and two Skill Base Series courses are available.
Spring Session

Registration deadline: March 23, 2018
Cost: No fees required

Each course consists of five lessons. Each course session is delivered over the course of 10 weeks (1 lesson every 2 weeks). All content delivery and course interaction is online. Participants must complete the course within the allotted time period for that session to receive a certificate of completion.

Continuing Education Units

Continuing Education Units (CEUs), California Board of Registered Nursing contact hours, California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists hours, and California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board contact hours are offered for Early Start Online courses and require payment of CEU fees and completion of evaluations or forms as determined by the specific granting agencies.

WestEd CPEI is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) to sponsor continuing education for MFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs. WestEd CPEI maintains responsibility for Early Start Online courses and their content. WestEd CPEI's CAMFT continuing education provider number is 135222.
