Family Preferences

Selecting a family for your baby is an exciting step in your adoption plan!  Just like you, prospective adoptive families have been down a long road to get to this point.  Connecting with a family is not a decision to take lightly.  If you don’t feel ready to get a family involved in your adoption plan, please speak with your Adoption Specialist.

Texas Adoption Center works hard behind the scenes to find families that are a really good fit for you, and in some cases that can take some time.  Even though we work with all types of families, the more specific you are, the fewer families we have that will match your criteria.

Openness AFTER Placement

(please select either Open, Semi-Open or Closed)
Open Adoption: An open adoption can take many forms, but it usually includes exchanging direct contact information with the adoptive parents (phone numbers, email addresses). It can also include the possibility of visiting over the years. In most cases, visits are once a year or less often. Not all open adoptions include visits.
After placement, would you like to text with the family?
After placement, would you like to have visits with the family?
After placement, would you like to have calls with the family?
Semi-Private/Semi-Open Adoption: A semi-private or semi-open adoption can also take many forms. Usually, this type of adoption includes ongoing contact facilitated by the agency or a third party. For example, the birth parents and prospective adoptive parents may not exchange phone numbers, but they may stay connected through pictures and letters. This type of adoption usually does not include ongoing visits.
After placement, would you like to receive pictures?
After placement, would you like to have letter updates?
Closed Adoption: A closed adoption typically involves no contact between the expectant parents during pregnancy and the birth parents after placement with the prospective adoptive family. This type of adoption usually does not include letters, pictures or updates.
