Application for Our Emergency Fund

We know that Covid 19 has made life in the performing arts incredibly difficult, with the loss of expected performing and teaching income having both financial and mental health implications.  

SWAP’ra’s Emergency Fund aims to help alleviate some of the financial stress that our colleagues are under.  The fund will be allocated on a needs basis, with emergency grants of up to £1,000.

We are aware that your current situation is a sensitive one. Therefore initially your application will be anonymised by omitting all the items under "Contact Details" so that you cannot be identified. A small number of people will be selecting a shortlist of potential recipients. If you are one of those on the shortlist, your name and full details will then be revealed to the Board of Trustees, who will make the final decisions.

You must answer all the questions. Make sure you have all the info necessary to complete the form (especially your income and outgoings between 1st April and 30th September) as you cannot partially complete the form and return later.


Applications will close at 23.30 on 28th September and we are expecting to be able to let you know the outcome by mid-October.

Please confirm that ALL the following five apply to you
  1. A woman or parent of dependent children (a dependent child being one aged 0-18 years for whom you have care or a child aged up to 19 years who is in full time education)
  2. Aged 18 or over
  3. Working in opera in the UK, other than as a student
  4. Adversely affected by the Coronavirus pandemic, without savings in excess of £1000
  5. A British resident (You are a UK resident if you spent 183 days or more in the UK in the previous tax year and your only home was in the UK)
